Racal to Supply Satellite Base Station Test Sets to Lockheed Martin

Racal Instruments, Inc. has been awarded a contract by Lockheed Martin to develop and supply test systems for the Asia Cellular Satellite (ACeS). Racal will supply its 6114 test systems, tailored to Lockheed Martin specifications, developed from Racal's standard GSM digital radio base station testers. Racal's commercial satellite test technology will be used to support Lockheed Martin in the development, manufacture and test of ground segment base stations for the ACeS system which is based on GSM specifications. ACeS is a geosynchronous satellite system developed by Lockheed Martin to provide mobile communications throughout the Asian region. Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor responsible for fielding the system, expected to be in service in 1999. This order for satellite ground segment base station test sets follows a contract awarded by Ericsson to develop and supply test sets for the new phone system handsets.
