Advanced Clock Test Set Now Available from Wavecrest

April 25, 2001

Wavecrest announced an Advanced Clock Test Set specifically configured to meet the needs of today's engineers and designers to characterize and test clock signals. The Clock Test set is composed of the award winning and proven capabilities of the DTS-2075ä, user friendly VISIä 6.0 clock analysis software and a PC controller. This specially priced Test Set characterizes clocks up to 800 MHz with picosecond accuracy, femtosecond resolution and a low noise floor. Analysis can be performed in either the time or frequency domain, allowing engineers to determine individual spectral components in seconds.

"The release of the Advanced Clock Test Set provides a complete analysis solution enabling designers and engineers to fully characterize the signal integrity of their clock signals," said John Patrin, Product Marketing Manager. "Empowered by the easy to use software with online help, first time users are directed through a typical measurement using the Getting Started Wizard. With the Advanced Clock Test Set, users will be capable of obtaining meaningful clock analysis measurements in minutes."

A few of the key features of the Advanced Clock Test Set include:

  • Histogram Tool –Provides statistical analysis of measurements such as period, pulse width, propagation delays and slew rate. Proprietary software algorithms separate total jitter into deterministic and random components and extract reliability plats that are used to predict long-term system up time and probability of short cycle.
  • Frequency Modulation Tool – Quantifies periodic interference on clock signals such as cross talk or EMI. These tools enable the user to identify theexact frequency components of the periodic interference and their absolute impact on total jitter (pk-pk).
  • Locktime Tool – Quantifies PLL stabilization time, or lock time, based on period measurements relative to a marker.
  • Phase noise Tool – Measures the fluctuations in the phase of a signal caused by time domain instabilities.
  • Wavecrest provides innovative and leading-edge electronic test and measurement products for the design and production of electronic and photonic components and systems. Wavecrest signal integrity, jitter, and timing analysis solutions are widely used to measure, diagnose, and test diverse applications.
