The FibreXtreme data link implements a 1.062-GHz dedicated, point-to-point or broadcast link designed for the high-throughput requirements of advanced DSP systems. FibreXtreme offers a sustained data rate of 105 MB/s. Its optimized Fibre Channel communication method eliminates framing protocols, common services and upper layer network protocols of the Fibre Channel standard so that data transfers occur without the CPU overhead, minimizing latency.
FibreXtreme interfaces to the Front Panel Data Port standard, which is designed to address the high-speed connection between the ADC of a sensor subsystem and the DSP of advanced DSP-based image processing systems. FibreXtreme extends the FPDP connection distance from a maximum of 1 meter to a maximum of 10 kilometers.
