Anritsu Company Introduces CPRI BBU Emulation Capability For Network Master Pro MT1000A

New Option for Multi-function Handheld Field Tester Reduces OpEx and Speeds Rollout of LTE Networks

Anritsu Company introduces the MU100040B CPRI RF Module with BBU Emulation option for its Network Master Pro MT1000A multi-function field tester that can reduce operational expense (OpEx) and time associated with deploying LTE network sites. The new capability improves efficiency by providing wireless technicians, engineers and contractors with the necessary tools to validate that a Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent (Nokia/ALu) Remote Radio Head (RRH) is installed properly and functional before the Base Band Unit (BBU) is commissioned while they are on the ground.

With the option installed, the Network Master Pro MT1000A is an all-in-one field test solution that can verify optical fiber, Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) modules, RRH, and power before the BBU is officially commissioned and the site is turned on for customer service. The BBU Emulation option allows engineers and technicians to troubleshoot problems independent from the core network, as well as allowing them to separate the RRH from the network to determine if an issue is due to the RRH or a different source. The handheld test solution, with the option integrated into the platform, will reduce the number of truck rolls necessary when installing new RRH.

Field engineers, contractors, and technicians can read RRH manufacturer information, as well as RRH SFP data to validate wavelength and line rate with the option installed on the MT1000A. The multi-function tester can also create and send an LTE waveform to verify the RRH can transmit an LTE carrier. Key measurements, such as RRH transmitter output VSWR and return loss; uplink spectrum, and spectrograms can be made with the Network Master Pro with the BBU Emulation option.

The expanded capability is also useful for troubleshooting installed RRH that are not functioning properly, as it can isolate the RRH and perform the menu of measurements included in the BBU Emulation option. Anritsu now has the largest CPRI RF test instrument portfolio on the market, offering solutions for all field technicians, regardless of their roles and responsibilities.

To further support the multi-function tester, a new optional accessory SFP has been introduced for CPRI and OBSAI applications. It is compatible with CPRI line rates 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, as well as OBSAI 4x and 8x link rates, making it almost universal for any RF over Fiber field environment.

The compact, battery-powered and easy-to-use MT1000A provides everything needed to install and maintain networks in a rugged, field portable package. This lightweight test instrument is designed with an easy-to-use GUI and clear summaries, allowing users of any skill level to operate the Network Master Pro to its full potential.
