Anritsu Introduces Its CMA5000a Field Testing Platform, The Only Tool Required For Construction And Maintenance Of Next Generation Networks

3

Anritsu Corporation, a global provider of operational support solutions for advanced and converged networks, announced recently the release of its new CMA5000a modular testing platform for installing and maintaining next generation networks.

Until now, two types of field test equipment were available for technicians and engineers: over-featured laboratory equipment that lacked portability and ease of use or single application boxes that didn't provide the advanced capabilities required – neither of which offered everything needed to operate today's networks. Hearing this common complaint, Anritsu engineers developed the CMA5000a multi-layer, field testing platform series which incorporates the best of both. Advanced, in-depth testing for all aspects of network installation and maintenance is now possible with a single product – from fiber characterization to transport optimization.

"The CMA5000a is the first field testing platform with the capabilities and specifications of lab-grade test equipment but the portability and ease of use needed in the field" states Stephen Colangelo, Marketing and Business Development Director at Anritsu. "By starting with the powerful and flexible CMA5000a platform, customers can customize the test set for the services they provide now…and in the future."

About the CMA5000a:
The CMA5000a is available in either 2-slot or 4-slot configurations featuring both AC and DC operation. Standard features include: a large, full-color display with touchscreen interface, Windows XP operating system, large capacity hard drive, multiple USB ports, remote command support, modular architecture and an intuitive, field proven user interface. Additional highlights include:

  • Simple, yet rugged design for field use
  • Battery operation and backup for all applications ensures no data is lost and power-cycling is not required when moving between equipment racks
  • Fully configurable based on network technology or technician responsibility
  • Support for over 30 modules ranging from OTDRs and Dispersion to SONET/SDH and Ethernet up to 10Gbps
  • Full command support for remote operation or automation via scripting
