Anritsu Launches New Modules To Make Production Line Testing More Efficient

Anritsu Corporation is pleased to announce the simultaneous launch of its TRX Test Module MU887002A, designed to improve the efficiency of production-line inspection of wireless communications devices, including 5G, and its space-saving Uni sal Wireless Test Set MT8872A.

With 24 RF connectors, the newly developed TRX Test Module MU887002A is a TRX module for installation in the MT8870A and MT8872A. It supports 5G Sub-6 GHz New Radio (NR) RF tests, as well as various other simultaneous wireless communications tests, including WLAN, Bluetooth®, and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). As such, this makes the inspection of wireless communications devices on the production line much more efficient.

The MT8872A is a measuring instrument designed for use in mass production and is fully compatible with the MT8870A. Its small footprint is designed to be used in narrower spaces than the standard 19” rackmount, saving space on crowded production lines. Designed to meet the needs of manufacturers of chipsets, smartphones, wireless modules and other wireless products, Anritsu expects the new MU887002A and MT8872A solutions to save space and cut costs on production lines for wireless communication devices.

The numbers of 5G smartphones and subscribers continue to rise as commercial cellular 5G services start operations. In addition, more antennas are being built in to each 5G wireless device to achieve both higher speeds and greater capacity. Because of this, wireless device manufacturers must test more antennas and are demanding a tester for the production-line to shorten inspection times. To meet this demand, Anritsu developed the TRX Test Module MU887002A with 24 RF connectors per module and the space-saving Uni sal Wireless Test Set MT8872A. These products meet manufacturers’ needs by improving the inspection efficiency of 5G wireless communications devices.

Product Outline

The Uni sal Wireless Test Set MT8870A and MT8872A are testers for mass-production of various types of wireless communications equipment and modules. The TRX Test Module MU887000A/01A/02A units are installed in the MT8870A/MT8872A. The UE under test is then connected to the test modules to measure the Tx power, modulation accuracy, and Rx sensitivity required to evaluate NRx performance.

Key Features

TRX Test Module MU887002A

  • Helps shorten inspection times. E y module has two NRx functions and each TRx function has 12 RF connector ports, each of which can output the same signal simultaneously (Broadcast Function). This helps shorten inspection times and eliminates the need for an external divider.
  • No need to change hardware. With 200 MHz bandwidth as standard, there is no need to change hardware to support future NR 5G Sub-6 GHz Carrier Aggregation tests.
  • No need to use an external amplifier. Since the same high-output-power (–5 dBm rms) modulated signal is output from all RF connectors, Rx tests, such as Max Input Level, can be conducted without an external amplifier. Additionally, the MU887002A is the only measurement module supporting simultaneous o -the-air (OTA) Rx tests of multiple UE units.

Uni sal Wireless Test Set MT8872A

  • Saves production space. The MT8872A is a smaller two-slot sion of the MT8870A, accommodating half the number of the same fully compatible TRX Test Module MU887000A/01A/02A units as the MT8870A. It is ideal for applications where two test modules are adequate, such as on production lines with limited installation space.
