Aurora Instruments
Established under its present name in 1990, Aurora acquired the Orionics product line of fiber instruments from Ametek, Inc., in 1991. Orionics, in turn, originally located in Bozeman, Montana, introduced the world's first commercially-available fusion splicer and OTDR in 1978. Aurora/Orionics now represents a twenty-one year record of continuous achievement, quality, and technical innovation.
Aurora is the ONLY U.S. manufacturer of field-worthy fiber optic fusion splicers. Its principal products include the FW312, the world's most rugged automatic fusion splicer; the sleek Fusion 2500 with two simultaneous views of the fibers in an award winning design; the new Fusion 3000 with ultra-fast PAS operation, two simultaneous x/y views of the fibers, sub-pixel image processing, and ultra-precise LID (Local Injection/Detection) alignments for the ultimate in versatility and splicing power. Aurora also distributes in North America the British-made Fase II mini-splicer.
In addition to splicers, Aurora offers a variety of other fiber optic products including heat shrink ovens, cleavers, mechanical fiber splices, closures, special and high-performance connectors, splicing accessories, fiber optic sensors, and product testing and development services.
To augment Aurora Instrument's production capabilities, Aurora Optics, Inc. provides research, testing, and custom assembly capabilities and services. Aurora Optics specializes in environmental and mechanical testing of fiber optic components.
