Compliance Surge Testing

The PSURGE 4010 now meets the requirements for the IEC 1000-4-5 and EN 61000-4-5 standards

The PSURGE 4010 now meets the requirements for the IEC 1000-4-5 and EN 61000-4-5 standards. The surge generator has an open circuit output voltage from 0.2 kV to 4.2 kV, ±10%. The open circuit waveform has a risetime of 1.2 µs, ± 30% and a falltime of 50 µs, ± 20%. The short circuit output current is 0.1 kA to 2.1 kA, ±10%, with a waveform risetime of 8.0 µs, ± 20%, and a falltime of 20 µs, ± 20%.

Coupling / Decoupling networks are single phase 16 A, and are integrated in the PSURGE 4010. The decoupling inductors are 1.5 mH with coupling capacitors of 9 µF and 18 µF. The residual surge voltage on unsurged lines is < 15% of maximum applicable test voltage when the EUT is disconnected. The residual surge voltage on the input is < 15% of applied test voltage or 2 X peak value of power line voltage whichever is higher. The single-phase coupling paths can be automatically controlled from the PSURGE 4010 surge generator or from the software package WinPats. A RS232 Interface is integrated and an IEEE interface can be supplied as an option.
