Digital Lightwave Demonstrates Portable 40/43G Test Instrument With DuoBinary Coding For Line-Side Testing Applications

CLEARWATER, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Digital Lightwave®, Inc. (OTCBB:DIGL), a leading provider of optical networking test equipment and technology, today announced that a NIC Platform product with 40/43G testing utilizing DuoBinary line coding was demonstrated at the ECOC (European Conference and Exhibition on Optical Communication) trade show in Brussels.

The NIC Platform offers the industry's most innovative solution to high-speed network testing. The compact NIC 40G chassis is the industry's smallest and lightest 40/43G test instrument (at 13.5lbs/6.1kg). In the larger NIC Plus chassis, 40/43G testing is available along with other modules for a complete testing solution. In just one portable or rackmount chassis, the NIC Plus can support testing from 1.5Mbps to 43Gbps with drop/insert capability plus Ethernet 10/100/1000BaseT, GigE and 10GigE with a choice of line codings (NRZ, DuoBinary, DPSK, DQPSK), an optional C-Band or L-Band tunable laser and an Optical Spectrum Analyzer (OSA) module. Other configurations include dual 40/43G test systems in a single unit which can be equipped with different line codings for simultaneous line-side and client-side testing.

"Our customers look to us for the solutions they need to simplify network testing needs," says Doyle Mills, Director of Product Marketing at Digital Lightwave. "40/43G testing, especially for the field, is a challenge because so many of the competitive instruments are large and bulky or are severely limited in their capabilities. We leveraged our nearly 10 years of leadership in SONET/SDH/OTN testing and delivered exactly the solution our customers need."

The Digital Lightwave booth at ECOC Brussels also featured the first public demonstration of the Multi-Services Analyzer (MSA) 2020 module, with SONET/SDH/OTN testing from 51Mbps to 10.7Gbps plus 10/100/1000BaseT (dual ports), GigE (dual ports) and 10GigE LAN/WAN interfaces. The MSA 2020 supports license-based Test Options including Generic Framing Procedure (GFP), 10GigE WAN, 10GigE over OTN and ODU-1 to ODU-2 multiplexing with additional capabilities available soon.
