Dow-Key Microwave Introduces New Compact 409 PCB Mount Switch

Ventura, CA -- Dow-Key Microwave Corporation, part of Dover Corporation's Microwave Products Group, now offers a compact SPDT PCB mount switch. The new 409 series unit, which can be mounted directly on an electronic board, is ideal for military, ATE and commercial applications that require higher power handling and greater resistance to severe environmental conditions than is offered by typical PCB mount switches. Its compact packaging occupies only 310 mm2 of printed circuit board area to meet high-density mounting requirements.

"Across all industries, we are seeing the miniaturization of components," said Krzysztof Ciezarek, vice president of engineering/hi-rel products for Dow-Key. "The new 409 switch addresses this trend while maintaining superior performance capabilities."

A high-quality alternative to solid state devices, the robust 409 operates at a frequency range of DC – 3.0 GHz. The switch also is resistant to high shock and vibration instances that can occur as a result of the harsh conditions associated with various military applications. Featuring a laser weld hermetic seal, the switch functions optimally in variable climatic conditions. Operating temperatures range from -30°C to +70°C.

Made from aluminum and electroless nickel with kovar gold plated contacts, the switch weighs a maximum of 1 ounce, (29 grams). The 409 is available in an SPDT latching design and has a minimum life of one million cycles.
