Elcom Technologies Introduces New Low-Cost DFS Series Synthesizer

Guaranteed Zero-Phase-Hits, Ideal for 128 to 256 QAM Links

Rockleigh, NJ -- Elcom Technologies has designed a new series of dual output, ruggedized frequency synthesizers with ultra-low microphonics and improved phase noise.

Designed for high capacity MW and MMW radios up to 38 GHz, the LCDFS series offers lower phase noise and guaranteed zero-phase-hits* -- a key feature over the competition. Low phase noise satisfies 16, 32, 128 and 256 QAM requirements, making the synthesizers suitable for high-speed data transmissions.

The LCDFS series has a tuning bandwidth up to 1350 MHz and step sizes ranging from 25 KHz to 10 MHz. DC power consumption for the synthesizers is under 4 watts, the operating temperature between -3° to +70°C.

The device is packaged in a 3.95" x 3.75" x 1.2" housing (other packages are also available). Applications include wireless ATM networks, SATCOM converters, digital radios, instrumentation.

Additional specifications for the LCDFS series:

Frequency Range: 0.5 to 23 GHz (in Bands)
    Switching Speed: <25 ms
Output Power Range: 12 to 18 dBm
Phase Noise: Standard -108 dBc offset at 100 KHz from 10 GHz signal; Optional -118 dBc offset at 100 KHz from 10 GHz signal
    Spurious Output: -70 dBc
    Harmonics: -20 dBc
    Frequency Stability: < +/-3 PPM (-35° to 70°C)
Frequency Control: BCD, Serial RS-232 or RS-485
    DC Power: 12/18 VDC-50 mA, 8/18 VDC-350 mA
    Vibration: ETSI 300019-1-4
    Shock: ETSI 300019-1-4
    Integrated TCXO

The LCDFS synthesizers can be customized per customer's specific requirements. They are suitable for high-volume production.
