FCI's Rib-Cage Connector Passes Shock-And-Vibration Testing

Etters, PA - FCI, a leading developer of connectors and interconnect systems, recently announced that its Rib-Cage1.27mm pitch connectors have passed stringent shock-and-vibration testing per MIL-STD-202 Method 204 and -IEC 60512 Test 8d. The Rib-Cage mating interface, long distinguished by its special multi-point, gold-plated receptacle design, provides optimal reliability in high vibration and shock-prone applications, such as those in the industrial, instrumental, military and medical markets.
Rib-Cage has served hundreds of applications ranging from disk drives to industrial weight and measurement. Rib-Cage's reliability has provided years of extended service in extreme applications such as locomotive and outdoor communications.
"Recent shock and vibration testing now certifies what FCI has known for many years: Rib-Cage connectors are perfect for applications on the edge, for customers who expect their electronic equipment to perform under duress," said David Hansen, FCI global product marketing manager.
Rib-Cage is part of FCI's MezzSelect family of mezzanine connectors. It is a high-density, 1.27mm (0.05 in.) pitch, two-row mezzanine, surface-mount, board-to-board connector system that supports three PCB stack heights and offers additional options for right-angle mounting. It has a 1.0 amp current rating and is ideal for connecting to flexible and rigid circuits.
Rib-Cage connectors feature high 200-cycle durability that sustains reliable mating and un-mating. They have low mating force for easy use, and high un-mating force for connection security. Housing polarization prevents mis-mating. Various position, attachment and packaging options are available to support customers' specific PCB requirements.
FCI supports ten connector sizes between 10 and 100 positions. Rib-Cage is priced competitively to support commercial applications, such as portable devices, POS retail, motor vehicle, test, security and access control, sub-assemblies with motors, and diagnostic applications.
