Genoa Technology's Bulk Call Generator Stress-Tests Telephone Systems

Genoa Technology (Moorpark, CA) introduced the Telephony Capacity Tester (TCT), a bulk call generator that requires no programming. With over 150 predefined test scenarios, the software-based system can characterize the behavior of a telephone system, TAPI Service Provider (TSP), PBX or Call Center under extreme conditions.

Genoa's TCT provides a software only telephony stress testing system, using off-the-shelf TAPI hardware. The TCT simulates the behavior of one or more telephony applications, generating a high volume of inbound and outbound traffic. Its graphical interface allows the user to quickly define complex loading scenarios.

For Service Provider testing, the TCT can mimic worst-case call volume scenarios. In this mode, the product also provides conformance analysis of state transitions, return values and other Service Provider behavior. The TCT can play and record voice traffic, detect DTMF tones, and display complete call progress analysis.

The software system is composed of two parts: the TCT Manager, which provides synchronization of all calls, automatic device locating, mapping and analysis; and three TCT Agents. TCT Agents are local control modules that activate the tests and report the raw data to the TCT Manager.

The TCT Manager and TCT Agents can be used to test a variety of system topologies. These modules can communicate through a TCP/IP network, making the number of TCT Agents and lines limitless. The TCT can generate enough calls to overload the system, so the system's behavior under extreme conditions can be characterized.

Genoa's Telephony Capacity Tester is available now for a list price of $9,995 USD.
