Jena, Germany - True to the Company's philosophy "standstill is a step backwards", GOEPEL electronic now offers its CAN module with new and extended functions on USB basis. The new CAN module USB 3052, available as plugin card and stand-alone tool named basicCAN/USB, is a unique product with a wide variety of functions. It is a cost-efficient test solution which is easily adaptable via a USB standard interface, and can be operated with any PC.

USB 3052 is an intelligent module for automotive applications with up to four ports. The user will be able to exchange information between all four CAN interfaces via an internal board network. Now a simple synchronisation of all activities is possible. It is also possible to create analysis functions, i.e. passive monitoring (disconnectible acknowledge) and recording of messages on the CAN bus. For each CAN interface, trigger functions in both directions (TrigIn/TrigOut) can be utilised.

The storage capacity is 2 MB RAM per CAN interface, to provide a significant performance increase. Furthermore, CAN hardware and onboard hardware are galvanically isolated from each other.

USB 3052 provides various Onboard functions, such as network management or diagnostic functionalities (implementation of transport protocols for various car manufacturers ot types).

The module's software was updated to enable all new and past applications. All common protocols, e.g. CAN protocol compliant with CAN specifications 2.0A and 2.0B can be supported. Additionally, real-time simulation of ECUs is possible by means of intelligent CAN interfaces.

Freely configurable transceivers according to CAN interface as well as the provision of onboard functions for transport and diagnostic protocols upgrade the functionality of GĂ–PEL electronic's new CAN module. An additional and important feature is the possibility to use USB 3052 for the CAN conformity test.
