Intellitech Adds Support For The Freescale DSP56F80X Family's On-Chip Programming And Voltage Measurement

DURHAM, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Intellitech Corporation, www.intellitech.com, the leader in lowering electronic product costs through IEEE 1149.1/JTAG, has announced that it has added support for the Freescale Semiconductor DSP56F80X family to its SystemBIST device, UltraTAP pod and PT100 concurrent testers used in volume manufacturing. The DSP56F80X devices include up to 128K bytes of on-chip FLASH and up to sixteen Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC), each are accessible over JTAG and Freescale's on-chip "OnCE debug" macro. A library of DSP56F80X access routines has been added to Intellitech's popular Eclipse family of software. The library supports automatic download of customer program code to the on-chip memory as well as conversion of the on-chip ADC registers to a measured voltage. A typical application of Intellitech's PT00 testers would be to program functional test code over the 1149.1/JTAG bus onto the DSP56F80X memory, concurrently, on thirty-two or more at a time. Then the testers would communicate with the DSPs over concurrent JTAG to take voltage measurements from the on-chip ADCs, execute this on-chip functional test code and retrieve the results. This would be followed by concurrently programming the DSP56F80X devices with the customer's mission mode program code.

"The Freescale DSP56F80X device family is used widely in low cost servo and motor control applications. This support in our toolset is part of our long standing strategy of mixing boundary-scan, functional test and analog tests onto a single concurrent tester optimized for boards used in this type of application," said CJ Clark, CEO of Intellitech Corporation.
