Kingfisher International's Upgraded Handheld Variable Optical Attenuator Instrument Offers Better Performance For Tomorrow's Fiber Optic Testing Needs, Whilst Maintaining Familiar Features

Kingfisher International announces an improved KI7010 Variable Optical Attenuator for fiber optic installation test. The field portable tester is suitable for acceptance testing of any single mode or multimode system including advanced CWDM and DWM

Kingfisher International has introduced a range of improved Variable Optical Attenuators suitable for fiber optic test and installation applications. The KI7010B is a field portable test attenuator, most commonly used to verify the optical margin of an installed fiber optic communications link. It is available for either single mode or multimode fiber types, and is of interest to fiber optic technicians and installers requiring simple, rugged and accurate test gear. The unit represents a uniquely easy to use and accurate offering within the market sector.

The KI7010B Automated Optical Attenuator has numerous useful features, all intended to improve ease of use and overall success for typical users. General features include protected interchangeable optical connectors, long battery life, intuitive operation, the ability to store and recall a number of pre-set operating sequences, and convenient PC control software. Optical features include power handling up to +30 dBm, as well as low sensitivity to wavelength, ORL and polarisation. The unit features industry leading linearity and absolute calibration accuracy. The B series model has been upgradedd to incorporate four calibration wavelengths, which combined with the general wavelength insensitivity, make this unit ideal for testing any CWDM or DWDM system.

In addition to field use, a combination of features makes this instrument very convenient for laboratory use.
