Low-Cost Bert Includes Full/Fractional T1/E1, V.35, RS-232, RS-449, RS-530, X.21

International Data Sciences Inc.al Data Sciences, Inc. has announced the new IDS Model 78 which can test synchronous and asynchronous wide area networks at speeds in excess of 10 Mbps. This full-featured test set has all of the most popular interfaces built in, including full and fractional T1 and E1, V.35 , RS-232, RS-449, RS-530, and X.21. It can be operated from the front panel or remotely controlled via a serial PC interface running the standard Windows HyperTerminal software or a VT-100 terminal.

The unit counts and displays bit errors, bit error rate, transmit and receive frequencies, G.821 measurements including errored seconds, severely errored seconds, degraded minutes, available and unavailable time and clear-to-send delay. Twenty-eight asynchronous and seventy-five synchronous speeds can be selected. The unit will run up to 16 Mbps with external timing.

Thirteen standard test patterns including QRSS for T1 and E1, and Fox for asynchronous printer tests are included. Twenty-four red and green front panel LEDs monitor the status of 12 primary, key signals on all interfaces.
