Microtest Announces V 2.10 of OMNIScanner Cable Certification Tool

Microtest announced Version 2.10 of its OMNIScanner cable certification tool, with enhancements that include new measurements, improved graphical and storage capabilities, and a multi-lingual user interface.

OMNIscanner certifies Categories 5, 5E and 6 cabling and provides measurements for Category 7 as well. The new version of OMNIScanner supports a bandwidth test, providing a result that differentiates link quality by measuring the useful frequency range of a link. Another new feature addresses upcoming cabling industry standards requiring both pair to pair and PowerSum NEXT to be measured using the same test.

In addition, OMNIScanner now provides the ability to verify shield continuity for FTP or SSTP cable types as part of its wiremap test.

OMNIScanner's features include the ability to graph attenuation and crosstalk on the unit's display, providing a visual representation of Attenuation to Crosstalk Ratio (ACR) headroom of the link. OMNIScanner now also provides the ability to store and retrieve full sets of frequency sweep data.

Microtest has added several enhancements of particular interest for the European cabling community, including a multi-lingual user interface that allows users to switch between French, German, Italian and Spanish.
