Loughborough Sound Images' PMC/16IO1 PMC module provides a high performance and flexible I/O solution

Loughborough Sound Images' PMC/16IO1 PMC module provides a high performance and flexible I/O solution for applications that require a large number of analog inputs, as well as an analog output to act as a simulus. The module is suited for acoustic sensing applications, such as sonar and seismic measurement, and noise vibration analysis.

High precision conversion is provided on each of the sixteen analog input channels by a dedicated 20 bit Delta Sigma DAC. All input channels convert synchronously, allowing data to be captured simultaneously on all channels. Sample rates are programmable at up to 50 kHz per channel. An on-module oscillator allows sample rates of 32 kHz, 48 kHz and binary divisions of these frequencies to be generated. This oscillator is socketed to allow alternative oscillators to be used.

Each I/O channel is FIFO buffered to exploit the PCI burst mode of operation for rapid data transfers. This allows data transfers at a sustained rate of 55M bytes/sec. Data transfer can be controlled with the aid of a programmable interrupt across the PCI interface which can be generated when the input FIFOs reach a pre-set level.

The PMC/16IO1 can be used with a range of LSI carrier boards including the PCI/66, DBV66 and PCI/C42.
