Photon Dynamics To License Defect Detection Software

Photon Dynamics (San Jose, CA) announced that it will begin licensing its MuraLook technology software for display defect detection to Photo Research, Inc., a manufacturer of photometry and colorimetry instruments. Photo Research will develop a laboratory version of Photon Dynamics' SpotLite system, which is used in manufacturing plants to detect blemishes, called mura, in liquid crystal displays (LCDs).

The new LCD inspection product, the PR-2020, incorporates a Photo Research high-precision photometric CCD camera, Metrology software and Photon Dynamics' MuraLook software. It will be available by October 1999 for less than $75,000. This technology will provide computer and television manufacturers with a precision instrument for LCD quality assurance.

Photo Research manufactures precision photometers and spectroradiometers to measure the luminance and chromaticity of displays. They provide high precision instruments to measure CRTs, LEDs, LCDs and other types of display technologies.

Photon Dynamics is a supplier of test, inspection, and repair systems for the flat panel display industry. The company provides solutions for integrated yield and cost management systems for FPD manufacturers.
