Portable Test Solution for Ds0 Through Oc-48

Digital Lightwave announced the first customer shipment of the new OC-48 version of its Network Information Computer (NIC). This product provides a portable test solution for T-Carrier, ATM and SONET (up to OC-48) rates.

With the increase in new telecommunications standards and lightwave data rates, the need for multi-functional test equipment that supports the latest data rates such as OC-48 (2.5 gigabits/second), has increased significantly. The OC-48 NIC provides the high-speed fully-integrated test equipment, in a lightweight easy-to-use portable product.

The addition of OC-48 capability to the NIC platform (DS0 through OC-12-- including ATM), enables Digital Lightwave to provide telecommunications equipment and service providers with the technology needed in the appropriate size package. High-speed fiber optic technology in a small package represents an industry technological breakthrough.

The OC-48 NIC weighs under 14 pounds and generally costs under $100,000.

The OC-48 fiber optic technology was incorporated in its existing platform, allowing customers to upgrade their existing NIC without having to relearn the intuitive touch sensitive interface. Technicians will be able to use the same GUI for easy configuration of multiple test applications.
