Quantum Data 882E Test Instrument Approved For HDMI-HDCP Compliance Testing

ELGIN, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Quantum Data™, a worldwide provider of video test equipment, today announced that their 882E-based HDCP compliance test application for the HDMI™ interface has been approved by Digital Content Protection (DCP), LLC as an authorized test tool. Quantum Data's test tool satisfies an important need in the HDMI industry. "HDCP adopters have been asking for a commercially available test tool for HDCP compliance for quite some time," remarked Stephen Balogh President of DCP LLC. "Now they have it. Adopters can now purchase a DCP, LLC Authorized Test Tool (ATT) for use in their product development and production."

The DCP, LLC-approved version of the HDCP test application is the only commercial ATT available for purchase. "All our HDMI adopters will benefit greatly by having a commercially available test tool for HDMI-HDCP compliance," said Steve Venuti President of HDMI, LLC. "This approved test tool will enable our adopters to bring their products — sources, sinks and repeaters — to market more quickly and minimize interoperability problems."

Approval of the 882E will have a positive impact on adopters of HDCP technologies when submitting products for compliance testing. According to Jason Smith, DCP, LLC Chief Technical Officer, "Now with a commercially available tool for HDCP compliance testing, adopters submitting products to HDCP Authorized Test Centers will have a much greater chance of passing the HDCP Compliance Test. This will reduce costs and time to market for adopters."

Operation of the DCP, LLC-approved version is simple. The HDCP compliance test is initiated through the 882E front panel or PC application. Once initiated, the tests run to completion with limited user interaction required. A typical test suite can be completed in as little as 5 minutes. When a test series has been completed, the 882E instrument issues a detailed report that provides pass/fail results for each individual test. Reports can be viewed through a web browser, transferred over a network or printed.

In addition to the compliance test, the 882E offers a debug environment that helps identify and resolve HDCP problems during development, prior to submission for compliance.

The DCP, LLC-approved software release version of the 882E will be posted on the DCP, LLC web site (www.digital-cp.com), and will be available for download from the Quantum Data website (www.quantumdata.com).

Orders for the DCP-approved HDMI-HDCP compliance tool are being taken now with lead times of two (2) weeks. Contact your Quantum Data distributor or representative for ordering and pricing.
