Radio Test Set Verifies POCSAG Pagers

tr

A new option for the 3920 series digital radio test set from Aeroflex allows test engineers and field technicians to verify the operation of paging transmitters and receivers that use the POCSAG (Post Office Standardization Advisory Group) signaling format. With the software option installed, the 3920 test set can send and receive POCSAG encoded messages.

Receiver test tools control the modulation deviation, bit, and message format, as well as the frequency and power level. Users can select from a list of predefined messages or create custom-defined messages to transmit to a single RIC (radio identification code) or sequence of RICs.

For transmitter testing, the 3920 decodes the message and measures the modulation parameters. Each received message is logged, including the RIC, FSK deviation, and bit rate.

The POCSAG option for the 3920 test set is a software upgrade that can be installed in the field. Expected delivery is April, 2013.
