RVSI Introduces Vision System for the Semiconductor Equipment Industry
Robotic Vision Systems Inc. (RVSI) announced four high-performance machine vision modules targeted to test handler manufacturers and other semiconductor equipment suppliers. Leading the list is the AVS4000 for high resolution automated device inspection.
Suitable for inspection of devices with either two- or four-sided leads, the AVS4000 will inspect for all traditional two-dimension and three-dimension measurements including lead coplanarity, pin-1 orientation, and mark nomenclature. Designed with the camera mounted above the inspection nest, this product integrates seamlessly into semiconductor manufacturing equipment where releasing the device into an inspection nest is desirable. The system is available configured to inspect one or, optionally, two devices at a time.
The AVS2000, AVS3000, AVS4000, and AVS4100 were introduced at the NEPCON West tradeshow and represent one of RVSI's first product entries for the semiconductor original equipment manufacturer (OEM) market. They cover a range of single- and dual-camera configurations, two-sided and four-sided lead packaging, and inspection nest options.
Two of the systems, the AVS2000 and AVS3000, were developed for use as part of the company's own semiconductor inspection systems. They are being offered to other semiconductor equipment manufacturers for the first time.
RVSI has tailored these four products to match the industry's requirements for degree and type of lead inspection. Measurements for coplanarity, pin-1 orientation, mark orientation, and other functions can be addressed through a single camera. Concurrently, the systems have been designed to facilitate set-up for each inspection run in the minimum amount of time. The result is higher productivity and throughput.
The AVS2000 is for inspection of devices with two-sided leads and checks for all traditional two-dimension measurements, including lead co-linearity, pin-1 orientation, and mark nomenclature. The module is designed as a single-camera inspection system with multiple-camera configuration options. It is targeted to applications requiring inspection in order to assure that electronic devices have not been damaged in handling.
The AVS3000 is for inspection of devices with two-sided leads and checks for traditional 2-D and 3-D lead measurements including true coplanarity. Designed as a two-camera inspection system this product is targeted at "gravity feed" handling equipment.
The AVS4100 is designed for inspection of devices with either two- or four-sided leads and will check for all traditional lead measurements including coplanarity. The camera is mounted below the inspection nest, and the product integrates seamlessly into semiconductor equipment with no special handling required. The system is available in either a vertical or horizontal configuration.
