SCSI controller with PCI-X interface
Available through Azzurri, the controller is suitable for enterprise-class servers and RAID in storage networking environments. It is compliant with the SPI-4 SCSI draft specification and provides additional features that ensure robust system operation.
The SYM53C1030 is the first SCSI controller with a PCI-X interface. With a maximum aggregate throughput of 1066Mbits/s at 133 MHz, this technology eliminates bottlenecks of previous PCI interfaces and increases system performance. A true multifunction PCI-X device, it delivers transfer rates up to 640Mbit/s on two SCSI channels. To transfer data at Ultra320 speeds, the SYM53C1030 employs enhanced packetised protocol and QAS with hardware assist, and also features SureLINK domain validation to ensure link integrity.
LSI Logic's Fusion architecture provides an open programming interface for custom applications. This interface supports a true single binary device driver for both Ultra320 SCSI and Fibre Channel, eliminating the need to develop, install and qualify separate device drivers for each physical interface.
The SYM53C1030 was designed to be pin compatible with LSI Logic's SYM53C1010R PCI to Dual Channel Ultra160 SCSI controller, allowing system designers to design one board for both Ultra160 and Ultra320 controllers. LSI Logic has a development kit for software developers who wish to write drivers and applications specific to their design for the Fusion based SYM53C1030 SCSI and Fibre Channel controllers.
