Instrument Specialties is a leader in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) technology, providing complete consulting, design and testing services plus a wide range of shielding materials and related products for the aerospace, computer, defense, electronics, medical equipment and telecommunications industries. Intensive R & D combined with continuous quality improvement assures the company of meeting, indeed anticipating, the needs of the marketplace with superior shielding products.

The company designs and manufactures a full line of EMI/RFI shielding gaskets and custom engineered stampings. These include beryllium copper spring fingers, knitted wire mesh, conductive elastomers, shielding laminates, shielded vent and filter panels, conductive foils, tapes and caulks, as well as electrostatic discharge grounding and shielding contacts. Custom engineered Stampings are produced utilizing our in-house tool and die design manufacturing capabilities, including CAD, CAM, and the high precision tolerances of wire EDM. We manufacture custom components for many products, including connectors, switches, battery contacts, and electronic and electromechanical assemblies.

Instrument Specialties also operates a world compliance center, state of the art facility in Pennsylvania that can perform evaluations for all current worldwide commercial EMC and product safety requirements. These include FCC, VDE, CSA, VCCI, CISPR, CENELEC, IEC, lightning surges, EFTs, and power main emissions. The centers also can test for compliance with all current military standards. The company routinely tests computers, telephone switches, classified military systems, automotive vehicles, MRI facilities and numerous other types of equipment and systems. Also performed are computer-controlled evaluations of shielded enclosures, cabinets, and other facilities for magnetic and electric fields and plane wave attenuation, as well as attenuation and EMP performance of shielded cables, connectors, RF gaskets and other materials.

In addition to its Delaware Water Gap, PA headquarters, the company operates manufacturing facilities in Asheboro, NC, and East Kilbride, Scotland. All Instrument Specialties sites are registered to the ISO 9000 series of standards.
