Signal Generators From Rohde & Schwarz Test AM/FM/RDS And HD Radio Receivers
Munich - Rohde & Schwarz recently announced that it is offering automotive radio manufacturers broadcast signal generators that support both HD Radio technology and AM/FM/RDS. HD Radio is iBiquity Digital Corporation's brand of in-band on-channel (IBOC) technology. Both audio and data broadcasting systems are increasingly used for broadcasting to automobiles. Two new options from Rohde & Schwarz now offer automotive suppliers a test solution for developing and producing suitable receivers. In addition, car manufacturers can use these options to perform functional tests.
The range of broadcast signal generators from Rohde & Schwarz includes the R&S SFE100 test transmitter, the R&S SFE broadcast tester and the R&S SFU broadcast test system. The R&S SFU-K357 option makes it possible to generate test signals for the HD Radio™ digital broadcasting system, which is in widespread use in the USA and in development around the world. The R&S SFU-K357 consists of a comprehensive ARB waveform library plus a large number of test vectors with different transmission parameters and contents such as test tones, PRBS and live audio sequences. The library contains AM and FM HD Radio™ test signals for analog, digital and hybrid operation. The option allows users to perform all prescribed measurements for the specific terminal equipment.
The R&S SFU-K170 AM/FM/RDS option is a realtime coder that generates signals for classic analog audio broadcasting. The R&S SFU-K170 supports long-wave, medium-wave and short-wave AM audio broadcasting as well as VHF FM stereo broadcasting. In FM mode, the signal for the RDS digital data service can also be added. The audio signal is generated by the integrated AF generator so all the functions required for signal generation are provided by a single instrument. Alternatively, the signal can be supplied from an external source.
Rohde & Schwarz offers the right generator for any task in broadcast signal generation. As a single-standard instrument, the R&S SFE100 test transmitter is designed especially for applications in production. The compact R&S SFE broadcast tester is a versatile and cost-efficient multistandard generator for a variety of applications in the lab, in service and in production. The wide-ranging simulation and analysis functions of the R&S SFU multistandard broadcast test system make the high-end instrument ideal for sophisticated development applications. The products are compatible with each other. Plus, they are easy to operate because their user interfaces have the same look & feel. The signal generators already support numerous broadcasting standards – both analog and digital, from terrestrial, satellite, cable and mobile TV to digital audio broadcasting such as DAB, ISDB-TSB and DRM.
The new R&S SFU-K357 option for HD Radio technology and the new R&S SFU-K170 option for AM/FM/RDS are available for all models of the Rohde & Schwarz signal generator family.
