Symmetricom Announces Advanced Synchronization Measurement And Analysis Software Suite
San Jose, CA - Symmetricom, Inc. recently announced TimeMonitor 2.0, a cost-effective tool for bringing together synchronization measurement data from a variety of sources and performing a wide range of analysis functions without the need for costly, external test equipment.
"TimeMonitor is a powerful tool to diagnose sync-related problems, allowing easy handling of large amounts of data with a good set of practical calculations," commented Carlos Monero, senior consultant at Ericsson Brazil and member of the International Telecom Sync Forum Steering Group. "TimeMonitor is very useful for creating customer reports from sync audits, and the new options for characterizing packet network delays are essential for today's implementations. We are looking forward to using it."
TimeMonitor Analyzer imports and analyzes synchronization measurement data from a variety of sources, including dedicated jitter/wander test sets used in networks and labs throughout the world, GPS/SSU/BITS equipment capable of making measurements, packet timing data using time stamped NTP or IEEE 1588 packets and counters using the companion software, the TimeMonitor Measurement Software. TimeMonitor Measurement performs inexpensive multiple channel synchronization measurements using off-the-shelf counters with live phase/frequency display. TimeMonitor Retrieve collects live or archived measurement data from Symmetricom synchronization equipment.
The TimeMonitor Suite runs on Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, XP and Vista, and provides the following features:
- Multiple signal analysis and measurement capability
- Advanced analysis capability
- Packet timing analysis (NTP, IEEE 1588 PTP)
- Works with Symmetricom's TimePictra carrier class synchronization management system and Symmetricom's TimeScan synchronization management system
- Multiple vendor test equipment support
- Live phase/frequency display
"TimeMonitor provides the most cost-effective method for service providers to monitor the synchronization of the network, analyzing, measuring and detecting any faults to maintain optimum network performance," commented Kevin Hsu, senior director of product management at Symmetricom. "With the complimentary capability to support performance monitoring for Symmetricom's TimePictra and TimeScan network management systems, TimeMonitor provides an integrated monitoring solution for synchronization of the network."
