Systran Introduces MIL-STD-1553 PCI Mezzanine Card

Systran Corp. (Dayton, OH) manufacturer of the 1553 Solutions line of MIL-STD-1553 devices, today announced the availability of two new PMC boards, the GLD+PMC and GLD+PMC/S. These microcode-based PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) boards provide mezzanine flexibility.

Part of the Gold+ family, the GLD+PMC and GLD+PMC/S can act as a bus controller (BC), emulate multiple remote terminals (MRTs), and function as a complete chronological bus monitor (BM). Their microcode-based communication capabilities meet the needs of many applications, including 1553A, 1553B, and mixed-device bus simulations.

The GLD+PMC is a multi-function 1553 simulation and test interface board based on Systran's real-time microcode. It can simulate a BC, MRT (up to 31), and a BM simultaneously, and its proven microcode enables it to inject errors into bus traffic for test purposes. The single-function GLD+PMC/S can emulate up to 31 remote terminals, provide additional bus instructions in BC mode, and filter bus traffic at a lower level in hardware than typical protocol chip-based boards.

The GLD+PMC and GLD+PMC/S are fully software compatible, and both boards can use Systran's GoldExpress GUI software for 32-bit Windows NT systems. GoldExpress facilitates data acquisition, mission loading, LRU testing, and data bus debugging on the MIL-STD-1553 databus. Its GUI format allows users to perform many high-level MIL-STD-1553 bus analysis functions.

These boards can also be used with Systran's BusXchange Multiplex 1553 Bus Switch, a 16 x 16 crosspoint switch that provides differential connections from sixteen transformer-coupled, line replaceable unit (LRU) inputs to sixteen MIL-STD-1553 differential buses. Multiple units can be cascaded for additional capacity. The combination of Systran's Gold+ MIL-STD-1553 boards and the BusXchange switch gives users the flexibility to switch LRU inputs between attached buses without changing physical connections.
