SZ Testsysteme introduces test solution for xDSL at Semicon West

Georg Linner, director of Worldwide Marketing discusses the Piranha tester at the company's booth

Semicon West 2000, the largest trade fair for semiconductor manufacturing in North America, was extremely successful for SZ Testsysteme. "On all three days, our stand was inundated with visitors. Best of all, we were able to make important new contacts. In this respect the trade fair once again significantly surpassed our already high expectations," said Helmut Pflaum, Executive Board representative for technology at SZ Testsysteme AG. Trade fair visitors were especially interested in the recently introduced M3300 tester Piranha and the testing solution developed by SZ for the promising new xDSL components. "With this solution we are offering the semiconductor industry a combination of fast testing throughput, high precision, and low testing costs," said Pflaum.

With the M3300 Piranha, the company has expanded its product range for testing components of up to 64 pins. This includes in particular automotive semiconductors (e.g. control mechanisms for mirrors, light adjusters, airbag sensors, and ABS electronics) and semiconductors for wireless communications.

For the promising new xDSL components, which allow up to 140 times faster access to the Internet over telephone lines than existing analog modems, SZ Testsysteme introduced a fast, low-cost, and at once highly precise testing solution in San Jose. Designed specially for the Piranha series, this solution makes it possible to complete a full production test of an analog front-end component in only three seconds.
