TAS / NoiseCom Acquisition Finalized; TAS Buys NoiseCom Wireless and Satellite Test Equipment Business
EATONTOWN, NJ (March 15) BUSINESS WIRE -March 15, 1999--Telecom Analysis Systems Inc., (TAS) announced today that it has finalized the acquisition of the wireless and satellite communications testing product lines of NoiseCom Inc. of Paramus, NJ.
The $19.0 million purchase solidifies TAS' position as a leading supplier of advanced test instruments and systems for wireless communications testing applications. TAS is a subsidiary of Bowthorpe plc, a UK company.

Engineering, technical support, manufacturing and administrative staff from NoiseCom will join TAS to ensure the continued support of existing NoiseCom products and to develop new products to be marketed under the TAS brand. A new facility in northern New Jersey will house the new TAS employees. Part of that team will also help define and develop satellite communications test equipment to further expand TAS' line of comprehensive communication test solutions.

Sydnor will serve as Vice-President and General Manager of the new TAS facility. "On the satellite side, our channel emulation products allow TAS to offer a test system for emerging third generation (3G) wireless communication technologies."
This transaction further strengthens Bowthorpe's telecommunications testing business. The Bowthorpe Telecoms Sector is managed by group presidents W. David Tarver and My Chung. Tarver is co-founder and former president of TAS. Other companies in the Bowthorpe Telecoms Sector include Adtech, Inc. (Honolulu, HI), a manufacturer of broadband digital test equipment, Global Simulation Systems, Inc. (Paignton Devon, England), a manufacturer of GPS test systems. Holaday Industries, Inc. (Eden Prarie, MN), a maker of electromagnetic field measuring components and instruments, and Edgcumbe Instruments Ltd. (Glasgow, Scotland), a provider of field service test gear.
In a separate but related transaction, TAS sold to NoiseCom, for $2.5 million in cash, the business and certain assets relating to the TAS 420 and 430 noise generators.
Telecom Analysis Systems is a leading provider of test instruments and systems for developers, manufacturers and evaluators of telecommunications equipment. Based in Eatontown, N.J., TAS provides a full line of precision instruments and systems to test wireless and wireline telecommunications equipment.
Bowthorpe plc is the parent company of an international technology group focused on the design, development, manufacture and marketing of specialist electronic products.
