Tektronix Instruments Selected For HDMI Compliance Test Solution

Beaverton, OR -- Tektronix, Inc., a provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, announced that several of its instruments have been selected by HDMI Licensing, LLC for inclusion as recommended test components in the HDMI Compliance Test Specification (CTS) version 1.3a for use by adopters to certify standard compliance. HDMI 1.3 is the most significant upgrade yet in the specification that has become the de facto standard interface for high-definition devices including DVD players, HD televisions, and the newest gaming devices.

The complete Tektronix test solution for HDMI CTS 1.3a includes high-performance hardware and comprehensive software for design and test engineers in consumer electronics, semiconductor and cable manufacturers. Key elements incorporated into the CTS 1.3a test solution include the new DPO70804 real-time oscilloscope with a new version of TDSHT3 HDMI compliance test software, CSA8200B sampling oscilloscope for time domain reflectometry (TDR) with 80E03 and an 80E04 modules, DTG5334 data timing generator with DTGM30 modules, and P7313SMA differential SMA probes. Sink testing will also include a choice among the AWG7102 arbitrary waveform signal generator, AFG3102 arbitrary function generator with the DTGM32 module, or AWG710B with a DTGM32 module.

HDMI 1.3 defines the latest high-definition (HD) video and audio technology that began hitting the consumer market late last year and continues to roll-out in 2007. According to announcements by manufacturers, among the first consumer products with HDMI 1.3 features to reach the market were the PLAYSTATION3 (PS3) from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. in November, the HD-XA2 HD DVD player from Toshiba America Consumer Products, LLC in December, and the EMP-TW1000, a 3LCD 1080p projector from Epson in December.

"Tektronix has been working with HDMI Licensing, LLC and its founders on test procedures and instrumentation since the beginning of the specification," said Gary Richmond, Manager of Technology Solutions, Instruments Business, Tektronix, Inc. "With the release of CTS 1.3a, Tektronix test solutions are again recommended by HDMI Licensing, LLC for critical compliance testing. Tektronix is committed to providing engineers the industry-leading serial data test capabilities to speed their HDMI 1.3 tests and improve time to market."

"High quality test and measurement instruments and solutions are fundamental to ensure compliance with the HDMI CTS 1.3a and ultimately the development of successful products that implement the HDMI 1.3 specification," said Leslie Chard, president of HDMI Licensing, LLC. "Tektronix has demonstrated its value to HDMI adopters over the past several years with its test solutions. The incorporation within CTS 1.3a of the latest Tektronix oscilloscopes, probes, and signal generators reflects the confidence of the HDMI founders with these solutions."
