Tektronix Supports Rambus Technology Implementation with Dedicated Team of Specialists
The formation of the ER Team comes just four months after Tektronix introduced its suite of instruments for digital design applications like that of Rambus memory. The integrated solution includes the TDS 694C digital storage oscilloscope (DSO), the TLA 720 logic analyzer, the DG2040 data generator, the HFS 9003 waveform generator and the 11801C DSO, with true differential time domain reflectometer (TDR) sampling head. Now, in addition to being a Rambus solutions provider, Tektronix is equipped to leverage its team of internal specialists to address even the most complicated Rambus design measurement challenges.
With nearly 75 years of combined experience in test and measurement, the ER Team has a collective understanding of customer measurement needs. In addition to extensive knowledge, each of the five ER Team members possesses a technical specialty that contributes to the Rambus memory system measurement solution.
Members of the ER Team include Gary Richmond, a member of the logic analyzer marketing team and a 20-year veteran of Tektronix, who has worked with Rambus memory design implementation over the last four years. On the ER Team, he helps customers debug and verify Rambus designs.
Jit Lim brings 10 years of oscilloscope hardware/software design and manufacturing experience to the ER Team. He is well versed in oscilloscope instrumentation and measurements, and serves as the team's jitter expert.
As the probe specialist on the ER Team, Bret Staker works with customers to define exactly what types of signals they are measuring and, taking into consideration signal quality, recommends the best probe for the application.
Dave Fink, a member of the signal source marketing team, is a 25-year veteran of the test and measurement industry. On the ER Team, he helps customers using a data generator as an ultra-low jitter clock substitute to eliminate clock abnormalities when troubleshooting and debugging Rambus memory systems.
John Rettig is known at Tektronix as the in-house TDR expert. With Tektronix for nearly 20 years, he has vast experience with sampling oscilloscopes and TDR impedance measurements.
In addition to its ER Team, Tektronix is introducing a Web site dedicated to the test and measurement of Rambus memory system designs. This online resource, located at www.tektronix.com/rambus, provides designer access to critical test and implementation information. The site will provide answers to frequently asked questions, measurement tips from the ER team, online "Ask the Expert" user discussions and detailed how-to information on Rambus memory design measurement challenges.
In addition, a Rambus Systems Test and Measurement Guide, which covers measurement tools, techniques, and strategies to ensure a smooth, fast development process, can be downloaded from the site. The ER Team can be contacted via email at erteam@tek.com.
