Teradyne ARIES RAM Test System Chosen by SLDRAM Inc.

Teradyne, Inc. announced that its ARIES RAM Test system has been chosen as the reference test system for high-performance RAMs developed using SLDRAM technology. Under its contract with SLDRAM Inc., Teradyne is developing test programs and interface hardware to test and characterize SLDRAM devices. The agreement also provides that the ARIES test programs developed by Teradyne for the SLDRAM device will be made available to member companies of SLDRAM Inc.

SLDRAM Inc. (formerly the SLDRAM Consortium) is an open, non-profit corporation with the objectives of cooperatively developing an open high performance DRAM specification with the largest memory capacity at the lowest possible cost. SLDRAM Inc. believes this can be achieved by optimizing the physical environment and the design to minimize manufacturing cost and by ensuring that the resulting devices can best serve high-volume markets through high-volume manufacturing thus achieving the greatest economies of scale. SLDRAM supporting companies include eighteen DRAM suppliers.

The ARIES test system, introduced in December 1997, is produced by Teradyne's Memory Test Division in Agoura Hills, California. The Division also produces the J990 Series and Marlin RAM Test Systems and the Genesis and Pegasus non-volatile memory test systems.
