Teradyne Introduces DataScope, a Mixed-Signal Oscilloscope for Test Simulation

Teradyne introduced a VX software tool, called DataScope. A mixed-signal display tool for simultaneous viewing of design and test simulation signals, DataScope is an addition to the VX Test Simulation tool suite. It provides a single display for viewing the full range of mixed-signal data and signals needed to debug system-on-chip (SOC) test packages before first silicon. Used in conjunction with VX test simulation software, test and design engineers can examine all simulated signals and data generated during a test simulation.

Bruce Webster, marketing manager for the VX product group, said, "Test simulation provides the ability to do real pre-silicon debug. DataScope provides a key element in this debugging process because it gives the engineer the power to see what is actually happening in more detail. Viewing signals has always been important for test engineers. The ability to view device signals over-laid on tester data takes this another step."

DataScope's multi-trace display can show all of the signals generated during a simulated test. These include DC sources and meters, AC waveform generators, and digitizers, as well as full digital stimulus, expect and device response data. All data and signals are correctly aligned against a single common time-base. Individual traces can be fully customized. The full test-simulation data set can be saved and viewed later without the need to re-simulate.

VX software is an integral part of Teradyne's Catalyst and A5 family test systems. VX for Saber and SpectreVX provide full SOC or advanced mixed-signal test simulation. DigitalVX provides digital-only simulation for Verilog and VHDL circuits.
