Test & Measurement World Magazine Names Agilent Technologies' N6700 Modular Power System ''Best in Test''
Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) today announced that three of its products were recognized by the editors of Test & Measurement World magazine in the publication's Best in Test 2005 competition. Agilent's N6700 power supply (MPS) was selected as one of 12 Best in Test winners and a finalist for Test Product of the Year 2005. The DSO80000 Series oscilloscopes and N2X multiservices tester were honorable mention recipients. The Best in Test awards are presented annually to honor new products that are particularly innovative and useful.
"We named the N6700 modular system power supply as a Best in Test product for 2005 because of the amount of programmable power it delivers from a compact modular system that requires just 1U of rack space," said Rick Nelson, chief editor of Test & Measurement World magazine. "We were also impressed with the flexibility provided by the supply's IEEE 488 and LAN ports and optional digitizer." Regarding the honorable mention awards, Nelson said, "We were also impressed with the Infiniium DSO80000 line's range of bandwidths -- up to 13 GHz -- and with the N2X multiservice tester's combination of router, bit-error-rate and storage-area-network test capabilities."
"We are honored to receive these valuable awards from a leader in the industry like T&M World," said Mike Gasparian, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Multi-Industry Business Unit. "This award symbolizes Agilent's commitment to providing innovative products and world-class service that help our customers meet their goals."
Agilent's N6700 modular power system offers industry-leading processing speeds up to 10 to 50 times faster than other programmable power supplies. It has a built-in digital multimeter for monitoring the voltage and current of the device under test, the choice of 50 W and 100 W output power levels, various voltage and current combinations, and three performance levels in a 1U-high package. Test system engineers can mix and match from 16 different DC power modules to create a one- to four-channel DC power system optimized to meet specific automatic test equipment (ATE) application requirements.
The Infiniium DSO80000 Series oscilloscopes are the first to surpass the double-digit bandwidth barrier, offering engineers who design RF and wireless products, high-speed serial buses and other ultra-high-speed electronics an unmatched level of performance. Previously, designers were limited by oscilloscopes with a maximum real-time analog bandwidth of 7 to 8 GHz. The 13 GHz real-time bandwidth of the DSO81304A offers more than a 50-percent performance improvement versus previous products. This translates into higher signal fidelity, more accurate and repeatable measurements and improved test margins for high-speed electronic designers.
The Agilent N2X multiservices tester is the first to combine leading-edge services testing such as Metro Ethernet, MPLS L2/3 VPNs, triple-play services, Multicast and SAN services over the latest converging infrastructures such as MPLS, IPV6, and next-generation SONET/SDH. N2X can test a wide variety of network infrastructure implementations from the edge/access through metro transport and core via a broad range of interfaces from 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet through to the industry's only 40 Gb/s OC768 routing test interface.
Nominations for the Best in Test competition were submitted by manufacturers and users of products introduced between Nov. 1, 2003, and Oct. 31, 2004. The magazine publishes its list of Best in Test finalists in December and asks readers to vote for the Test Product of the Year. Representatives from Test & Measurement World announce the results at the APEX tradeshow on Feb. 22 in Anaheim, Calif.
