Test Platform

Wavetek Corp. introduces the 4400 test platform designed for multi-band and multi-format mobile phone testing. It employs Digital Signal Processor (DSP) technology in a modular platform, permitting parallel processing of certain measurements resulting in faster test times.

When testing dual-band GSM mobiles, functional tests are typically required for each band, causing a bottleneck on the production line. The platform hops between frequency channels to test several channels consecutively, rather than sequentially. The main GSM standards, 900 and 1800/1900, can be tested in hopping mode and test results can be assigned to the individual frequencies. The platform also tests features such as cross-band channel assignment.

Software allows the 4400 to be integrated into existing production lines and requires minimal programming. Using programmed test scripts, all phones on the production line are tested automatically.
