Thermo Fisher Scientific Receives Calibration Accreditation For Electromagnetic Compatibility Products

Certifications ISO/IEC 17025 & ANSI NCSL Z540-1 allow Thermo Fisher to calibrate customers' EMC products to higher quality standards.

Wilmington, MA – Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, recently announced that its electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) product line is now ISO/IEC 17025 & ANSI NCSL Z540-1 accredited. This accreditation demonstrates that Thermo Fisher's calibration processes are consistent with international standards for compliance testing.

Until now, Thermo Fisher customers needed to use external, accredited laboratories for calibration of their Thermo Scientific ECAT and EMCPRO instruments to meet ISO/IEC 17025 & ANSI NCSL Z540-1 requirements. Some of these labs had minimal experience with electromagnetic compatibility products and EMC test systems.

The ISO/IEC 17025 & ANSI NCSL Z540-1 accreditation now enables Thermo Fisher to provide a higher level of calibration services for their ECAT and EMCPRO product lines. This allows customers to bypass other calibration labs, further reducing an instrument's downtime while simultaneously enabling faster calibration.

The accreditation also demonstrates a significant commitment to customers. Internationally-recognized accreditations ensure Thermo Fisher's measurement processes are consistent with a global metrology system that is designed to standardize measurements throughout the world.

"As the manufacturer of these products, we can provide expertise that a calibration laboratory cannot," said Ron Ahlquist, Applications, Product, and Technology manager at Thermo Fisher. "We design and build electromagnetic compatibility products and we understand the calibration procedures, which allow us to provide faster turnaround times. And with more than 30 years experience in the industry, we know how to do it right."

Thermo Fisher's accreditation allows it to calibrate Thermo Scientific EMC products in a number of industries, including healthcare, aerospace and telecommunications. According to Thermo Fisher, demand for accredited calibrations in these industries has increased in recent years.

Thermo Fisher also plans to expand the scope of its accredited calibration services for their ESD (electrostatic discharge) and LTS (lightning test systems) products.
