WSMC Announces The T18 Technology Solution

Worldwide Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (WSMC) announced the successful development of the T18 Technology Solution. The comprehensive T18 Technology Solution was developed by WSMC, based on Toshiba's silicon technology, and Avant! IP library expertise. This technology solution enables customers to access Toshiba's 0.18 µm gate technologies, Avant!'s Libra design libraries, and WSMC's manufacturing technologies in an integrated flow.

The T18 Technology Solution is the first cross-industry solution to provide simultaneous availability of very deep subµm (VDSM) technology, design libraries, and manufacturing through a foundry. In creating the silicon platform, Toshiba has transferred its high-performance, low-power, 0.18 µm drawn gate length CMOS technology to WSMC.

In expanding the IP availability, Avant! has developed WSMC-specific design libraries (Libra-Visa WSMC T18 Libraries) that include Optimum Silicon standard cells, I/Os, and memory compilers leveraging its Silicon Early Access program, which integrates silicon process development and electronic design.

WSMC has integrated Toshiba's technology and Avant!'s Libra-Visa Libraries into the T18 Technology Solution and committed manufacturing capacity for this leading-edge program.

The T18 Technology Solution allows customers to design 0.18 µm VDSM technology immediately with a cell-based library. This simultaneous availability of technology and IP libraries in the T18 Technology Solution helps eliminate the usual 3-6 month delay between them. Users can benefit from 0.18 µm technology without the risk of venturing into exotic materials and processes, such as CoSi2 and Cu interconnect.
