The notebook is distinguished by their Magnesium casing with rubber bumper corners The RoughRider series weigh between 9.5 to 10.78 pounds and built to withstand abnormal conditions—rain or wet environments, bumpy roads, rough handling and extreme temperatures.
The RoughRider machines are water-resistant with a membrane-covered keyboard, a well protected display screen, and I/O ports are sealed with watertight rubber doors. It can operate in a four inch per hour rainstorm, in salty air, or in wind and dust storms. It is shockproof, capable of surviving 30g of vibration during operating conditions. To further accommodate outdoor use, the notebook features anti-glare screen for extreme sunlight applications with sand and dustproof covers for the keyboard.

The RoughRider series offers a true sunlight readable 12.1in (800X600) or 13.3in (1024X768) Active Matrix display with anti-glare protection cover, Intel Pentium Celeron or PII 400Mhz as well as Pentium III/450/500 and 600Mhz processors with 64MB RAM, expandable to 256MB, 6GB hard drive, 128K to 256K on-die cache, 2.5 to 8MB video RAM With 2X AGP, Built in 16-bit sound card with stereo speakers, external speakers and microphone jacks, and IrDA infrared (fast 4MB/Sec transfer rate) and USB ports.
