Introspect Technology Spearheads I3C Proliferation At The MIPI I3C Interop Workshop With Its Latest High-Performance Test And Debug Module

The I3C Test and Debug Module contains unique innovations for supporting characterization, protocol analysis, and system-level debug

Seoul, South Korea (PRWEB) - Introspect Technology, manufacturer of innovative products that address the entire multi-Gbps test and measurement instrument experience, released its I3C Test and Debug Module this week during the two-day MIPI I3C Interop Workshop in Seoul, South Korea. From Monday, October 15, 2018 to Tuesday, October 16, 2018, the MIPI I3C Interop Workshop allowed early adopters of MIPI I3C to perform interoperability testing between Master and Slave devices in a closed-door environment. As an MIPI® Alliance Contributor member, Introspect Technology participated in the global event by offering the world’s top chip and system firms an opportunity to deploy the company’s latest I3C Test and Debug Module in a live environment.

“MIPI I3C builds upon decades of collective experience in control bus interfaces and creates significant improvements in speed, flexibility, and extensibility for sensor manufacturers, controller manufacturers, and systems integrators alike,” said Joel Huloux, chairman of MIPI Alliance. “The participation of pioneering tool makers like Introspect Technology at today’s event is highly appreciated.”

Similarly, Introspect Technology’s Chief Executive Officer — Dr. Mohamed Hafed — added, “Our company’s participation in today’s event is ultimate testimony to our unrelenting commitment to the entire industry — a commitment to offer timely, high-performance tools that accelerate the proliferation of innovative interfaces such as the ones created by the MIPI Alliance.”

Introspect Technology’s I3C Test and Debug Module has been architected from the ground up to help proliferate early creation of I3C sensor interfaces, while also containing rich features for eventual use with MIPI Debug for I3C, which is currently under development and slated to be available next year.

Characterization and Test
The I3C Test and Debug Module is a high-performance, ultra-portable tester which provides I3C Master/Slave capabilities for testing, exercising, and debugging I3C devices and host controllers. Each lane on the Test and Debug Module can act as a primary Master, a Slave, or can dynamically change its role based on advanced MIPI I3C requirements. Additionally, the I3C Test and Debug Module leverages Introspect Technology’s unique analog voltage and timing circuitry to create extremely high-resolution analog controls, thus offering a powerful characterization tool during the early phases of product development.

Protocol Exercising and Analysis
The I3C Test and Debug Module supports full protocol exercising and includes advanced features such as in-band interrupts, multi-Master controls, and dynamic addressing. This — coupled with an ultra-flexible pattern programming environment — allows for validating numerous operating modes and injecting errors at various stages within an I3C state machine. Finally, in addition to capturing traffic from a multi-drop bus, the I3C Test and Debug Module is able to extract state transitions and decode control transactions in hardware.

Debug for MIPI I3C
Introspect Technology’s I3C Test and Debug Module is a powerful solution designed to enable applications for the upcoming MIPI Debug for I3C. Its lanes include native I3C Masters that are multi-drop capable and that are backed by deep vector memory and the extremely versatile Introspect ESP Software. This award-winning development environment is based on the Python programming language, and it contains facilities for manipulating and streaming large scan files through the I3C Test and Debug Module.

With only two years into the development and commercialization of the MIPI I3C specification, the unveiling of Introspect Technology’s I3C Test and Debug Module at this week’s MIPI I3C Interop Workshop is a critical step towards the widespread adoption of I3C by the mobile and mobile-influenced industries. As a small form factor instrument with an extensive feature set and an exceptionally powerful software development environment, Introspect Technology’s I3C Test and Debug Module is suitable for a myriad of test and measurement domains; it is not only valuable for verification engineers that perform traditional characterization tasks, but it is also ideal for FPGA developers and software developers who need rapid turnaround signal verification tools or hardware-software interoperability confirmation tools. Given its versatility, Introspect Technology’s I3C device will help developers verify I3C interfaces for mobile, Internet of Things, and automotive system designs.
